Carlsbad

The best kept secret of North San Diego County.

Welcome to Carlsbad

Carlsbad is among the nation's top 20 wealthiest communities, but with its laid-back coastal vibe, it is far from being the stereotypical exclusive Southern California beach city.  The houses are beautiful, and the weather makes for a beach day nearly every day of the year, but the community has developed an appreciation for this town that shows itself in abundant hospitality and kindness.

Founded in the late 1950's, Carlsbad has grown steadily over the years in both population and community offerings.  The developers involved in urban planning had a keen respect for nature, however, and made it a point to work within the environmental considerations of the area.  There are four distinct quadrants of the town, each with a unique feel.

Known across California for its award-winning public schools, Carlsbad has become one of the most coveted neighborhoods in which to raise a family.  In addition to exceptional education, athletic programs are both well funded and well supported by the community as a whole.

From surfing the swells to strolling the sand, Carlsbad has a variety of offerings to suit all lifestyles.  If you are looking for your new Southern California home, this town is one of the best in the state!

Schools

Carlsbad’s community and its schools have roots as far back as 1872, when ‘Carlsbad by the Sea’ began to burgeon as an agricultural community and resort destination.  As true with many California districts, CUSD boundaries are older than most of the cities that it serves.  Today, the District covers approximately 42 square miles, serving a population of over 110,000, as well as the communities of Oceanside and San Marcos.  CUSD is recognized as one of the highest achieving school districts in the County, with many of its organizations being recognized as Distinguished Schools at the Federal and State levels.

Carlsbad spans a total of 7 miles of Coastline, and is 39 square miles in total.  The I-5 Freeway runs down the left center of the city, and is the most widely used for commuting in or out of the town.

The 78 Freeway borders the north end of Carlsbad, and will take commuters to San Marcos, Escondido, and the I-15 Freeway.

Carlsbad is roughly 70 miles from Downtown Los Angeles, and 65 miles from Downtown San Diego.  It is located 10 minutes from the South end of Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base, and one can reach Orange County in 20 minutes.
